How to Make a Long Flight More Comfortable
Long flights are tiring because you sit still for hours in dry cabin air. You can’t make the seat bigger, but you can make the trip easier on your body and your mood.
Bring your own sound
Seat-back screens often use a wired headphone jack. A small Bluetooth transmitter lets you watch with your own wireless earbuds, and noise-cancelling headphones cut engine noise so you arrive less worn out.
Drink water and move
Cabin air is very dry. Drink water regularly and go easy on alcohol and caffeine. When the seatbelt sign is off, walk the aisle, and flex your ankles and calves in your seat to help circulation.
Dress for comfort
Wear loose layers and comfortable shoes, since feet can swell on long flights. Bring a light sweater or scarf for a cold cabin.
Pack a small comfort kit
- Phone charger or power bank.
- Eye mask and earplugs.
- Refillable water bottle (fill it after security).
- Lip balm and hand lotion for dry air.
- Any medicines in your carry-on bag.
